Tamar Canfi’s paintings explore the space between the everyday and the symbolic. Her works are rooted in a figurative-naïve language, where bold outlines and earthy, vibrant tones transform familiar objects such as vessels, amulets, or stars into archetypal forms charged with meaning.
Drawing on Middle Eastern heritage with roots in Persia and Morocco, Canfi weaves references to folklore, mysticism, and protective traditions into her imagery. This cultural depth merges with an intuitive and instinctive painterly approach, imbuing each canvas with a sense of ritual, memory, and imagination.
Trained as an industrial designer at Shenkar College, Canfi bridges the discipline of design with the spontaneity of painting, creating works that feel both timeless and contemporary.
